Juan Bernal Mondragon

Juan is an exceptionally involved member of the National Deaf and International Deaf Communities. He is an ASL Interpreter and the Founder of the Illinois Latino Association, Rainbow Deaf social: Austin, and Latine Sordos. Notably, he was the recipient of the Deaf Illinois Award in 2013 and currently holds the title of Best Deaf Activist.

Juan has dedicated over three decades to his role as a Deaf Interpreter and has earned the IDHHC Intermediate License. He currently holds a full-time position where he travels to present interpreter workshops on various topics, including interpreter test preparation, Deaf interpreting, LSM (Mexican Sign Language), team interpreting with a Deaf interpreter, Latino Deaf issues, cultural issues, expressions/non-manuals, mentoring, and more.

In addition to his professional endeavors, Juan is a father of three deaf children and two grandsons. He enjoys sharing his experiences and insights through vlogs on Juan’s wondering Facebook and YouTube.

Isabel Lainez

Isabel is a Deaf Latina artist, illustrator, and graphic designer. She likes to give back to the latina/o/e/x community to recognize those from various countries, formerly involved with LADC (Latin American Deaf Club at RIT when she was studying graphic design.
After graduating, she started a small business called Izalaix Design is loves empowering her artworks. She is thankful to have my grandpa who gifted her the notebook when she was a kid. She was gifted to create artwork and for you to bring it to your beautiful home. She is inspired by everyday things, feelings, and her connection with nature. Also, the freelance designer has worked on several different collaborative projects with clients for brand design. Izalaix Design
